Three IoT Devices to consider before starting your next IoT Project or Solution

IoT is about connecting the sensors to the internet or more commonly cloud. Once needs to have a device which acts as a bridge between the sensor and the cloud.


It is popular among the hobbyist and most widely used for the student and college projects. This is also the cheapest IoT device available out there costing under $3. Nodemcu is based on ESP8266 platform and can be readily used with Arduino. The good thing about Nodemcu is that hobbyists can work all popular Arduino IDE to code the system and connect sensors easily

TI CC3200

For Started CC3200 has a excellent started kit called CC3200 Launchpad ( which costs around $30 and comes with several demo programs to start with.

Rasberry PI 3

Rasberry Pi 3 is a single board computer with wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity. Rasberry Pi needs no introduction and an excellent choice for the hobbyist and students for college projects.

What you choose is based on your end goal. If you want a IoT Device to do one-off project and concerned about the budget then go for NodeMCU, if you want to build a product and mass manufacture in 1000’s for optimized cost then use CC3200,  if you want lot of features like buletooth and other things then go for Raspberry Pi3.
